With Gavin Osborne, Nina Whiteman, intrepid music students and great music improvisers from Manchester and beyond. Music trios selected on the spot will improvise in a battle of gestures and textures. Do not miss it!

Mauricio Pauly and Sam Salem collaborate on a new mixed work for Italian cello virtuoso, Francesco Dillon.

Dillon (Alter Ego, Quartetto Prometeo) has recorded for the labels Aulos, Dynamic, Ricordi, Stradivarius and Touch. His next release will be the first world recordings of Variazioni for cello and orchestra by Salvatore Sciarrino. His deep interest in contemporary music led him to collaborate closely and regularly with some of the most important composers of today such as Gavin Bryars, Philip Glass, Vinko Globokar, Jonathan Harvey, Toshio Hosokawa, Giya Kancheli, David Lang, Henri Pousseur, Kaija Saariaho, Salvatore Sciarrino and with well renowned electronic musicians such as Matmos, Pansonic, Scanner, Midaircondo.


Pauly has recently been awarded the Staubach Honoraria commission for a new work to be premiered in Darmstadt 2010. His new string quartet will be premiered in New York by the JACK quartet in February 2010.


Salem is a multimedia artist and acousmatic composer whose music has most recently been performed/exhibited in Montreal (ICMC09), New York (NYCEMF), Berlin (SMC 08), Valencia (Digital Media 1.0) and around the UK and Scandinavia (as part of the Wet Sounds 09 tour)
